Several weeks have gone by since the blog has been updated. The puppies have grown tremendously over the past several weeks. We had the puppies hearing tested at six weeks old. All 9 of the puppies tested BAER bilateral hearing. We were very pleased with this result! The puppies will be temperament tested on Sunday, and at 8 weeks we will do our final structural evaluation of the litter. We use Pat Hastings' Puppy Puzzle process to evaluate the puppies. We like the process because it requires you to methodically evaluate every aspect of the puppy's structure.
The weather has been unusually warm in the southeast for June, and because of that the puppies have not spent any time outside until this weekend. The past two mornings before the heat of the day set in, I let each of the puppies have a romp down the drive and around the front of the house. It was great fun to watch them tear across the yard and explore the shrubs. Every day each of the puppies is given some private time to explore. We like them to get away from their litter mates to help them establish their independence. This week their half-sister Roxy helped socialize them. They had a great time and so did she.
We took stacked photos for the first time this weekend. No matter how much practice the pups get at being stacked on a table, they never ever want to stand still for photos! These were the best we were able to get. We will take another set at 8 weeks.
