And Then There Were Three

The puppies have been making their way to their new homes.  One of the benefits of having a job in California is that I was able to deliver a puppy to its owners who have a summer home in California.  Colby, the gal with the under ear patch, flew to California with me in a sherpa bag.  It's the first time I've flown with a puppy in the cabin with me.  If only Dalmatians stayed this small!  I was very fortunate to be blessed with a dog-friendly person sitting next to me and wonderful flight attendants.  I was upgraded to Business Class - another side benefit of being a frequent traveler - which provided additional room for a Sherpa bag and quite frankly a more relaxed travel experience.  Colby was able to sleep on my lap for most of the flight.  She had a french roll with the lunch service and was wisked away by one of the flight attendants, to be returned about 30 minutes later.  Her new owners will be in California until October, when they will return to their home in Washington DC.  We hope to see Colby in the Fall.

Two other pups went home that same weekend.  The yellow boy is now "Anthony" and his new mom and dad picked him up last weekend.  He'll be living on the east coast, so we hope to see him from time to time at shows.  The blue boy who is still nameless, will be local, co-owned with Carol O'Brien and we expect to see him on a regular basis.

We have another puppy heading off to a show home in NC and I'll be taking the red puppy - soon to be named Rocky Raccoon - to California with me next weekend.

The pink girl is now "Mary Kate" - a name that Tom has been wanting to use for a girl - and this one just looks like a Mary Kate.  She will be SunnyOaks Sweetheart Deal and she's staying with us here at SunnyOaks.

And that brings us to the three pups that are available.  We're still looking for the right show homes for these boys.  "Kyle" has a single blue eye on his off-show side.  JJ and Nolan both have dark brown eyes.  The pups have been well socialized with the house dogs here, make trips out to the barn to visit the horses and have started to walk on lead.

The Puppies Are 8 Weeks Old!

The puppies are now 8 weeks old.  The past week has been a busy one for them.  They were temperament tested last weekend.  They went to the vet for their first set of shots and have been micro-chipped.  We did our 8-week evaluation of the pups using Pat Hastings' Puppy Puzzle method.  And today we did a full set of 8-week photos.

The weather in North Carolina has finally cooled off and the past two days the pups have been able to play outside in an exercise pen.  They have been having a great time!

Here are the pictures of the pups.  You can tell who was behaving and who was not by the grip Tom has on the pups while he's stacking them.  Ginger's kids are always energetic, and this litter is no different!
